7/10/10
Today we qualified on points standings because of the rain so we started 7th. tied for 6th but other driver had more top 5 finishes and then they inverted the top 6 in the field. Have been making some progress on the truck and getting more speed out of it but on lap 6 we got sandwiched between 2 other trucks in turns 3 and 4.  One tried to go inside and the other went outside. This didnt turn out well when the inside truck collected me up and we all hit into the outside truck. As luck would have it, the other 2 trucks had to retire with issues and we kept on trucking until lap 21. Here is where the 2.5L motor gave up the ghost. It just flat quit and wouldnt refire. We were done, but we will get it back together for next week. This moves us to 7th overall in points and only 6 races left. If you would like to help the race team out with a sponsorship, please let us know. We would be glad to work with you since this is the 4th motor  this year and could use some help. After a day full of surprises, we made it to end. There were little things popping up all day and found out at the drivers meeting we had to qualify rather than doing the listed Euro Qualifying. Euro qualifying is when they take your best laps from practice and it is your time. Well after making some suspension adjustments we forgot to check something and at qualifying the dreaded chassis height checker came out. We have been hit by this once before but tonight was the second time we got hit for being too low on one corner. With that and a couple other trucks not being able to qualify we started 13th. We made a couple good choices and were running hard in 7th place until lap 23 when we got hit i the rear end in turn 3. We managed to keep the truck off the wall and save it but it cost us 3 spots. The caution never came out even though the hit tore the rear bumper off the truck. We ended up with a 10th place finish and are barely holding on to the 6th spot overall in the points standings. Next race is 7/10 and should be another good one.

Tonight was a great night for racing. The Holbrook Motorsports S10 made it to a 3rd place finish with the help from the T&D Racing team and pit crew. After qualifying 10th with a 20.3 second time, we got into the big pile up in turns 3 and 4 on the very first lap. On the restart, we were 5th and continually worked the truck up the field until we were able to squeeze into 3rd. The truck still handled well after the beating it took in the first crash, not to say we didn't get beat on through the rest of the race because we did. well there is more fender work to do now and some more straightening to be done but we will definetly be ready to go at it again on the 26th.

We took the truck out to one of our sponsor's today and had the truck there for them to show their customers. The Broken Egg Bistro was pleased to have us there and we enjoyed spending the morning with them showing off the truck, even if it did still have the freshly bashed in rear quarter panels. John Scalise was also there showing off his 1970 Big Block Camaro. We were challanged to a burn out competition but we didn't fair too well against the big block with drag slicks. Hey, we definetly did try though. Thank you Mark, Doug and Mike along with the rest of the Broken Egg Crew for having us out and for sponsoring us this year. We still have room for some more sponsors for the 2010 race season. Racing at Langley is starting to see another team that is making a lot of progress towards the front. That team is us! We got the minor dings and tweeks fixed from last race and the truck was ready for another night of racing. We qualified a solid 8th with a decent time, everyone seemed to be running a little slower than normal. The track had issues with the scoreboard being down so we just had to rely on the  announcer and flagman for 1 lap to go and the checkered flag. We raced every lap like it was 2 to go and we moved up to 5th. About lap 20, we got both rear quarters knocked in this week by another truck (#19) who couldn't figure out how to get around us. He hit us 3 times in the corners before just plowing through the rear and attempting to spin us out. It almost worked but Lloyd managed to save it and as the back end came around the other way in turn 2 he drove through the right rear quarter as well. He got both rear quarters on the same end of the race track, but as it all ended up, there never was a yellow flag thrown, we didn't get spun out, we didn't lose any position, the #19 retired next lap for a 12th place finish and our rear end got knocked over to one side. I wish these rookie drivers that keep tearing up the rear of our truck would learn when there is a large opening on the outside, it is there for them to pass and not an invitation for them to spin you out. 
The more experienced drivers seem to know this and have no problem going around. Rubbing and some contact when fighting for position is racing and accidents do happen, but just plain crashing someone because they are in front of you and they won't let you around........  
Anyway, we managed to stay 7th overall in points with a 7th place finish. More body work and hopefully not another trip to the frame shop. Next race is this upcoming weekend and we are going to try to be ready.

Racing was great tonight. Made some good adjustments to the set up of the truck and it is handling a lot better. Gene Nichols worked on the carb and got it tweeked just right and we ran our fastest time in qualifying to get up the 6th spot. Race was great up until the restart where we got into a scrap with another truck and knocked the front end out of alignment. The next 12 laps were just an all out effort to keep the truck off the wall. it was four wheel drifting all around the corners. not much damage to the truck and we are looking forward to June 5th!

  I want to start off by thanking my teammates, crew chief and pit crew for all their help getting the bugs worked out before race time. We qualified 8th and were working our way up when we got in a little fender bender. We got tagged in the left rear by the #29 going into turn 1 and spun out. As luck would have it, we started up the track and got nailed. YouTube has the whole crash on video under "Langley Speedway 5/8/10" . Back end of the truck is bent out about 6" and there is some other damage but we are working on it to get it fixed and plan on being there again this Saturday night.

  Well we figured out the problem with the camshaft and have that fixed. What a mess, but we were lucky to not trash the block. Motor is together and is running strong. We will have the truck back fully assembled for the next race on May 8th. We are really excited about working these mechanical gremlins out so we can get in there and really mix it up and show the full potential of the truck, driver and race team..

  Congratulations go out to teammate Tommy Nixon for his win this week, nice driving Tommy. Seems we are having a rash of bad luck with our motors this year. Last week we lost 2 distributors and this week we lost the camshaft. We were able limp around and get a couple laps in, salvaging some points out of the weekend. Overall the weekend was not good for the "Lucky 7". There are 3 weeks until our next race and the motor will be back together and ready to go. There will be more later but back to the shop for now.

Well the first race of the season is over and done with. We appreciate all of our 2010 sponsors for getting us out on the track and want to say Thank You to King Trailer Rentals, The Broken Egg Bistro, Bap Geon Express, East Coast Sign and Design,Staton Bookkeeping, Christopher Bean Coffee, ProFox Racing Gear and Snap On. We  fought mechanical and electrical issues all day and everything was fixed for the feature race. We had to start in the back because of our poor qualifying time but moved up and was running in 3rd with 6 laps to go and a caution comes out. On the restart we come out of turn 4 and down the front stretch and the motor dies. Later we would find out that the distributor internals failed and it came apart. The next race is this Saturday and we will be there ready to go at it again.

  Well it is time once again for short track racing at Langley Speedway. Thank you King Trailer Rentals, Staton Bookkeeping, ProFox Racing Suits and Christopher Bean Coffee for returning again this year as truck sponsors. We want to give a warm welcome to our new 2010 season sponsors: The Broken Egg Bistro in Chesapeake and Suffolk, Bap Geon in Norfolk and also East Coast Sign and Design in Chesapeake. Thank you for all your help and we look forward to working with you throughout the entire year. There are still a couple more spots available. Well we got the truck together and while breaking in the spare motor we had a catastrophic valve failure and lost the motor. Despite that little set back, we got our regular motor built and we are ready to go racing. The truck got shook down last Saturday at practice and did pretty well on the new Hoosier Tires. We had a couple more things to get changed from last year and with that all done we can hardly wait to hit the track on Saturday night. The first race is 4/10 and we would like to see you out there cheering us on. We have set our goals pretty high for this year and plan on seeing us in Victory Lane this year!
